“ Restaurant 1796 was featured on: “This week in Louisiana Agriculture” the same Sunday I was staying in St. Francisville following the LSU-Vandy game. The experience was absolutely remarkable from top to bottom at the Myrtles. Joe was our waiter and he provided top notch service. From start to finish made us feel welcome. We tried most of the menu, including the rabbit liver, fried venison backstrap, mushroom & Brie dip for appetizers. Entrees were just as good, with the excellent hangar steak cooked medium rare over an open pecan wood fire . I had the fried quail and accentuated with bacon biscuit sandwich. My only regret was not saving room for the creme brulee. A meal highlight was Joe walking over with two bloody Mary’s and told us the bartender made some extras and we are welcome to them! I have only had one Bloody Mary in my life and this one was special. If you are a fan, definitely give them a shot. The mimosas were being poured rapid fire at most tables. I stuck to the coffee which had heavy whipping cream and raw sugar. A phenomenal experience. At the end of the meal, Joe took me to talk to the chef, Frances Adams. We exchanged meal ideas and he told me about his grill setup. A warm, friendly, inviting atmosphere and a must stop for some outside the box menu items. Everything is locally sourced and homemade if possible. 10/10 -Luke ”
“ A sophisticated cottage vibe with seriously elegant and delicious food. While traveling home from a work trip we decided to visit the famous Mrytles plantation and decided to get some brunch from the restaurant there. What an unexpected treat. The atmosphere was that of a small cottage with the wood and open hearth in which they prepare many of their dishes. The service was excellent. The mimosas were truly bottomless with the glass never emptying due to the prompt service. The food was as exquisite as any restaurant I have ever been too. Everything we had was a flavor explosion that would be extremely hard to find a complaint for. A place you must try, and we are excited to return to. ”
“ My wife and I ALWAYS make sure to eat at 1796 when we are in St. Francisville. It's one of our most favorite restaurants ever. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for and it is DELICIOUS. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is great. I could hang out there my entire visit. My photos are from previous visits, as the menu changes. I didn't snap any pics on our last trip because I was too busy stuffing my face. :) 1796 is worth every penny. We'll always be a repeat customer. ”
“ We enjoyed a delicious dinner that consisted of Caesar salad, filet mignon, and a pistachio “Mille Feuille ” for dessert! Our server was top notch with his wine pairing and service! Be careful when booking reservation online. If it states “hearth” then you will be sitting at a bar by the fire. Luckily they were able to move us to a quaint table! ”
“ My boyfriend and I only live twenty minutes away from this gorgeous restaurant but had not yet heard of Restaurant 1796. We were immediately greeted by the staff and brought to our table which was beautifully decorated with gold decor to match the royal blue paint of the walls, in what I can only assume is their presidential room considering the black and white picture of President Lincoln. Our waitress, Taylor, was very knowledgeable on the menu and had wonderful recommendations on wines. Overall the food was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish and I have not had an experience such as this one in a very long time. We will most certainly be back next month, as this will be a regular outing for the both of us! ”
“ My fiance and I came to St. Francisville from NJ on a whim to celebrate our engagement last summer. We stayed at the Myrtles and of course had to try Restaurant 1796. This was by far, the best restaurant I have ever eaten at, and I've traveled quite a bit. We still dream of the appetizers we shared (I believe we got one of everything-the corn crab dip crackers was to die for). But even better than the food was the service. We told the staff we had just gotten engaged and they treated us like royalty. It truly was a special experience that we will never forget. They really made our night. It's people like that, that make you remember a meal! Overall, we loved our stay at the Myrtles and our meal at restaurant 1796. We will definitely be back for our anniversary soon!! ”

“ It was wonderful!!! I went with my mother, sister and daughter and we all enjoyed food!! It was delicious. The drinks were wonderful too. I will definitely go back. The atmosphere is so relaxed. I had the Filet Mignon and it melted in your mouth. The flavor was amazing. If you have not been to this restaurant you need to experience it. You will love it!! You may want to make a reservation. It fills up quickly. ”
